If you are looking for the best ways to track calories and fitness then you are in the right spot. If you are looking to change your nutrition and fitness routines then calorie/fitness trackers might be the answer for you. 3 Great…Blog will share 3 of the best fitness and calorie trackers. The science of losing weight is pretty simple. You need to burn more calories than you take in on a daily basis. If you burn more calories than you take in you need to find energy from elsewhere. Your body will then use stored energy in the form of fat deposits to convert into the energy needed for your body to function. Tracking your calories taken in and calories burned during exercise are helpful in losing weight, maintaining weight, or even gaining weight. Using a calorie tracker can be great for monitoring your nutrition. Having a balance of nutrients is important for a healthy lifestyle and you will be able to see how much sodium you take in or how much saturated fat you are eating. Losing weight is all about making good habits and these 3 Great calorie trackers are great psychological tools for you. These calorie trackers will help you set healthy goals for weight loss and, based on your height, sex, and age, will give you calorie goals to help you lose, maintain, or gain weight, up to 2 pounds per week. The part we liked most was when you input your exercise for the day it will add the calories you burned to your daily calorie goal. Every time you exercise you can eat more since you have burned extra calories. And as long as you can stay below your goal consistently you should lose weight. So for example, if your goal is 1800 calories and you went for a run you would add calories. So your new goal may be 2200 calories depending on the length of your run. You are then rewarded for your exercise which makes it more desirable to accomplish.
My Fitness Pal
The first Great calorie tracker is Myfitnesspal.com. We love this and use this calorie and fitness tracker on a regular basis with some great results. It is easy to use and has a very wide selection of foods and exercises with calories already figured out for you. Under Armour advertises with them and will periodically send you coupons for up to 40% off through their partnership with MyFitness Pal which is another great perk. They have the largest database of foods (Over 5 million) and many restaurant and grocery store foods. You can also add your own recipes and foods. There is a convenient bar code scanner for scanning foods right from the store so you don’t even need to input them. The free version is all you really need. It has a blog and you can connect with friends and family who can follow along with your journey and help you with motivation. There is a premium version for 49.95 for extra reports and tracking your macros. But we felt the free version was plenty for creating a healthy nutrition and exercise plan. There are many apps that you can set up to automatically sync with MyFitness Pal. Our favorite is the Under Armour Map My Fitness App which will automatically sync your exercise results. (We will share 3 Great Fitness Apps in a future blog) We also liked how our Withings WiFi Scale synced with MyFitness Pal. It will automatically update your weight on MyFitness Pal and let you know where you are at in your goals. The MyFitness Pal App is free and very user friendly.
Lose It
The next Great Nutrition/Fitness tracking website is Lose It. This is very similar to MyFitness Pal. The input of meals and exercise is pretty comparable and it has an extensive database of foods and restaurant foods. There is a scanner for scanning in food from grocery stores. It is also easy to add your own. The premium plan is 39.95 so it is a little cheaper than MyFitness Pal and will get you some added features and allow you to set more goals but as I said before it is not needed for basic nutrition and fitness tracking. Lose It also syncs very well with your Apple Watch, Fitbit, Misfit, and other fitness trackers. And will also sync with the Withings WiFi Scale. Other apps that work with Lose it are Nike+ Running, Strava, Map My Fitness, and Runkeeper. If you are into challenges and goal setting, there is a challenge section where you can create your own challenges or goals to accomplish, or join challenges that other users have set up.
Fat Secret
The third Great Nutrition/Fitness tracking website is Fat Secret. This is very similar to the first two. It has a completely different user interface that may be a little more confusing at first glance. It also has a comprehensive database of foods. A useful feature is that it will highlight user entered foods so it makes it easier for you to identify foods that you should double check nutritional values. Like Lose It, there is a challenges section that you can join for setting mini goals. This website also offers great tips and articles for nutrition, weight loss, and exercise. Another great and unique feature is that you can add a health care professional’s email address and invite them to follow your nutritional and fitness information. Which would be great if you want them to monitor, give feedback, or support your journey. The one drawback is that you can’t sync other apps to this which would be a minor drawback from the other two Great Calorie/Fitness trackers.
All in all, these websites are all free and are great for tracking your food and fitness. They all have user friendly apps and have many advanced features. So, if you are looking to lose, maintain, or gain weight, all three of these could be a great benefit to you.
